The disappointment I felt only enhanced the shame that started to wash over me. Why did this man think it was okay to do that to me?! Why me?! I was sexually assaulted. I was touched unwantingly by someone who intentionally targeted me.
As folk have been challenged with church attendance, other folk have completely abandoned the idea of church all together. So often, we’ve been led to believe that we can figure it out on our own. If this COVID pandemic has taught me one thing, I’ve learned that a life without Christ is impossible. It’s time to RECONNECT! Here are 6 ways to grow your faith…even in a pandemic.
I make a good bag, pay my bills early, mind my business and my edges. I do yoga, go to therapy, keep a clean house, and I have passport stamps and museum receipts- cultured honey and only a little sophisti-ratchet when I need to be. By societal standards, I’m good and doing me. So why is it that at the church house all of this is a “problem” and I am CONSTANTLY questioned by the “You not married yet?” chorus?
My MOMMA said this would be the worst flu season ever, and she was right. So, as a body of believers, we need to put some serious precautions in place to ensure that our houses of worship do not become a breeding ground for viral infections. Here’s a list of 7 considerations for you to take back to your church leaders as we work to stay healthy and sane during the Coronavirus crisis.
First things first, let me acknowledge your anger, hurt and frustration. If I can be 100% honest, I believe we, as the body of Christ, miss this step when we begin to talk about “church hurt”.

The truth is…it really doesn’t matter what we personally think about your level of spiritual development or you personal convictions. The bible is clear, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” BUT, with the profession of faith, comes accountability. I am not saying that the church should ever water down the word of God. However, when the church (people) allow political, personal, and cultural agendas to interfere with the treatment of people, that’s problematic, especially to millennials.
We should have some solid criteria in order to ensure that ALL Church Mothers, across denominational lines, and throughout all the world, have the same qualities.
Our intellect tells us to run. Our faith tells us that Jesus will rescue us. Our test is in the press.
